Ingredients Mixing and Rubber Sheet Formation

At the heart of the tire manufacturing process are the ingredients that make up the rubber compound. In Vietnam, natural rubber, synthetic rubber, and various chemical additives are carefully blended and mixed using advanced machinery. Over 20 different ingredients are combined to form the base of the tire rubber sheet.

The mixed rubber compound is then subjected to intense heat to create the rubber sheet through an extrusion process. Multiple layers of rubber sheets are stacked and extruded, with an outer skin layer added to enhance durability and performance. The rubber sheet is then cooled and wrapped with cloth for storage before further processing.

Tire Assembly and Construction

The next phase involves the intricate assembly of the tire. Different rubber sheets with varying properties are overlapped to create the inner structure of the tire. The tire bead wire is then added, followed by the tire lining and the outer skin layer. The adhesion between the outer and inner layers is crucial to ensure structural integrity and longevity.

The curing process is a critical step in tire manufacturing, where the tire mold applies strong heat and pressure to the rubber compound. Once the tire is removed from the mold, it is extremely hot and undergoes bead lubrication to facilitate fitting onto a wheel. Additional visual inspections are conducted to ensure quality standards are met before the final stage.

Final Inspections and Delivery

Before the tires are ready for distribution, they undergo further inspection to verify quality and balance. The heaviest side of the tire is marked to aid in wheel balancing for optimal performance. Once the tires pass all quality checks, they are prepared for delivery to customers, ready to hit the road and ensure a smooth driving experience.

The tire manufacturing process at Kumho Tire's local plant in Vietnam showcases a harmonious blend of technology, precision, and craftsmanship to produce top-notch tires for various vehicles. From the meticulous mixing of ingredients to the final inspection and delivery, each step is meticulously executed to deliver exceptional quality tires to customers worldwide.
